The Book of the Pageant of Ayr
An artwork in the form of a book which presents a pageant made up of 595 histories given by three hundred people we met in Ayr, in shopping centres, bars, the library, schools, churches, a sports centre, local clubs and elsewhere. Inspired by the 'Pageant of Ayr' held in 1934 which was a national event held at Dam Park Stadium that involved huge numbers of local people in its making. The final performance had - “2000 performers, including 200 dancers, 60 horsemen and a choir”.
Part of the dissemination of the book involved revisiting the locations featured. Now available on request and in the local history section of Carnegie Library.
Collaboration with Rachel O'Neill, and funded by Scottish Arts Council and South Ayrshire Council.
